100 - Revolution

Location : Blackpool, England
Date first rode : July 2002
Still there? : Yes
ECC : Yes
ERS : Yes - Give Kids the World Charity Event - Eating on the ride.

Now I thought for a couple of years that my 100th coaster was the Grand National, however having missed the High Roller in compiling my list, it turns out that it's this one that has that accolade, which is no bad thing because it was a one-off event that I'm not going to forget anytime soon.

There was a famous clip in 1982 on Jim'll Fix It where some cubs asked to eat on a roller coaster and this took place on the Revolution at the Blackpool. 20 years later and the club are given permission to recreate the event for charity.

So boarding the ride with my tub of hula hoops and bottle of milk, I'm suddenly hit in the face by a ham salad baguette from the guy next to me, and the ride hadn't even started yet. Barely have I recovered than we're launched and into the first drop, milkshake going everywhere. Then I hear someone shout from the back of the train "who had the hula hoops" at which point I look into the tub and notice they've all gone. The guy behind then shouts "they were bacon flavour", which they were, he'd got a mouthful of them during the drop.

On the return journey I lose the milk and am hit with someone's chocolate milkshake. We return to the station absolutely filthy and laughing hysterically, it was such a riot.

I don't remember much of the second run other than we went out armed with cream buns and I swung mine into the face of the guy who'd got me with the baguette earlier. What I do remember is that the cars took forever to clean, the hula hoops having gotten everywhere and remained smelling of milk for the rest of the day.

Oh and the ride is alright, a simple out-you-go-and-back-you-come looper.

"I'm glad that this is my actual 100"
